online privacy violations:

why don't people wake up and realize that their identity can always be found out on the internet?

  1. how the hell can "anonymous" posts be linked back to real people' names thru server logs?
  2. wth would an information provider like yahoo or hotmail ever need my real name, address, alternative/original e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc?
  3. wth every company, even ones that sell software only digitally, require my real name, address, and phone number?
  4. how can servers be allowed to keep ip logs?
  5. why the hell do email companies/isps link ip addresses to real people so readily?

solutions:

  1. list all of the above online and make sure they get the message
  2. provide info on how to surf anonymously
  3. provide services like email that do not ask for personal details, do not log users, nor provide or collect any personal information on request to anyone, not even law enforcement.
  4. tell people to provide fake data when they feel so
  5. release a law for all companies to periodically tell every person what info they have on them, and provide the capability to delete/edit that data. the law will also apply for data like credit history, online stores, email providers, etc. also set mandatory longest period of time after which personal data must be wiped (ie annually)
